These are rough ranges you’ll see in the Malaysian market. Prices vary a lot between freelancers and agencies, so treat them as a guide, not a rule.
- One-page or landing page website: about RM500 – RM1,500
- Small business website (5–10 pages): about RM1,500 – RM5,000
- E-commerce store: about RM3,000 – RM15,000 and above
- Custom systems and portals: usually RM10,000 and above
What actually drives the price
- Number of pages and how much unique layout each one needs.
- Copywriting: writing every page well takes real time, especially in two languages.
- Photos and video: a proper shoot costs more than stock photos, but converts far better.
- E-commerce features: payment gateways like FPX, shipping rules, product variants and stock.
- SEO work: keyword research, structure and content that helps you rank.
- Custom functions: booking systems, calculators, member areas or integrations.
The costs people forget
A website isn’t a one-time purchase. Budget for these every year:
- Domain name (.com or .com.my): roughly RM50 – RM190 a year depending on the extension and provider
- Hosting: roughly RM150 – RM1,300+ a year depending on speed, support and how much is managed for you
- Maintenance: updates, backups and security
- Premium plugins or licences, if your site needs them
How to avoid overpaying (or underpaying)
- Ask for a fixed scope: exactly which pages and features are included.
- Check how many revision rounds you get.
- Make sure the domain is registered in your name, not the designer’s.
- Be careful with very cheap offers. If a full site costs less than a dinner, ask what happens after launch.
